The first episode of ITV’s Lost in Austen premiered sometime this past week. So far, some of the reviews are bad, some apathetic…mostly bad. I have not gotten a chance to sit down and watch the first episode yet, but it is online in 5 parts on YouTube here.
The Austen sites are all over it, again with mixed reviews. AustenBlog does not find it particularly worthwhile and has enjoyed kicking it about, and Ms. Vic from Jane Austen’s World thinks it “a delight to watch.”

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
A great improvement on the 4th and 5th films. Sometimes the teen angst was a little much, but I thought this was a great adaptation. *sighs* Now the waiting begins.

You were Elizabeth I. Perhaps the most famous European monarch of all time, Elizabeth I faced so many difficulties to ascend the throne that when she eventually got there she was a very determined, courageous woman, hardened by her hardships. She had a fiery temper and if she decided she wanted to do something, little could stop her! She was a great Queen who led England to victory against the Spanish and left her mark as one of the most positive absolute monarchs to have ruled England, which after the terrible 'bloody' Mary must have been a relief to the English people.

Lost in Austen is one of the most charming and worthwhile things i’ve seen for ages – with a very winning heroine, and a great deal of affection for the source material. It’s also very funny! And the reviews that i’ve read have been almost entirely positive. Youtube has lots of useful links to cast, and i’m afraid to say i’ve watched the first part quite a few times now…
