Home Again

I left Friday afternoon for a trip to New York City, enjoyed a lovely, buzzing weekend, and drove home all day yesterday. Right now, I am getting back in touch with the world, cleaning out my inbox, and catching up on school work. But tomorrow I will be back to my regular blogging. :)

  1. NY is on my list of places to visit. A friend and I drove through on our way to CT a few years ago, but didn’t stop for any sightseeing. We did get stopped by a cop who pulled us over for turning right at a red light. In my lovely South Texas drawl (hammed up for the occasion), I said, “But officer, where I’m from we can make right turns on red.” My car had TX plates on it so he knew we were from out of town. He tipped his hat and with a smile told us we couldn’t in the city, to try and remember and told us to have a good day. I then asked him for directions so we could get the heck out of there! One day I’ll go back to enjoy the sights and sounds and not be a tad freaked out by them because of being lost. :)

    • That’s so funny, because just as we exited the Lincoln Tunnel, we saw a sign that said “No right turns on red unless indicated” or something like that, and my dad and I both thought that was really odd. I guess it’s to keep pedestrians safe. And yes, it is a difficult city for a visitor to navigate, especially in a car! We always stay in the same general area when we go (because we go for the Westminster dog show), so I know that area like the back of my own hand, but once we go a couple of blocks outside our radius I am so lost. It’s hard not to look like a pathetic tourist standing on a busy streetcorner, holding up a map, and gazing around oneself in dazed confusion. Ah, but NYC is like the coolest place ever!!!

  2. That’s cool you went to the Westminster dog show! Some friends and I caught the last bit on TV Tuesday evening. The Sussex Spaniel that won Best in Show is absolutely gorgeous!

Happy Friday 13th! It’s my favorite day!
