Movie Index

Looking for films from a particular era of English history? Want to see all the adaptations of your favorite English classic? Check out the "Pages" section by scrolling down this sidebar. There you will find a work in progress, consisting of themed pages with information on all the movies from certain time periods or all the film adaptations of a particular author's works (nothing after the 1930's will be represented). Am I missing a movie? Please let me know! Though I have spent hours scouring the web, it's probable that some films have slipped through the cracks.

The Authoress

"Perhaps imagination is only intelligence having fun"

Lady Ashley's Profile

"I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart's affection, and the truth of the imagination."

-- John Keats

"Imagination and fiction make up more than three quarters of our real life."

---Simone Weil

"I loved history because to me, history was like watching a movie."

---Quentin Tarantino

Bright Star

This is a gorgeous film. If you have the chance to see it near you (it's a limited film), do not hesitate to do so. Probably one of the best productions I've ever seen.

"No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting. She will not want new fashions nor regret the loss of expensive diversions or variety of company if she can be amused with an author in her closet."

Which Queen Were You?

You were Elizabeth I. Perhaps the most famous European monarch of all time, Elizabeth I faced so many difficulties to ascend the throne that when she eventually got there she was a very determined, courageous woman, hardened by her hardships. She had a fiery temper and if she decided she wanted to do something, little could stop her! She was a great Queen who led England to victory against the Spanish and left her mark as one of the most positive absolute monarchs to have ruled England, which after the terrible 'bloody' Mary must have been a relief to the English people.
